Online Talk and Round Table Discussion

Roundtable discussion with Li Yue and Zhou Yang invited by Female Photography Foundation (fpf):

“On May 31, 2025, the Female Photography Foundation (fpf) hosted a special conversation with three researchers currently pursuing PhDs in photography in the UK.

What began as an informal coffee chat turned into a meaningful public exchange about the joys, challenges, and uncertainties of doing a PhD in photography today.

Together, we discussed:
- Why did we choose to do a PhD?
- What does our day-to-day look like?
- How do we balance research and creative practice?
- What were our lowest points — or most brilliant ones?
- What are our plans, anxieties, or ambitions for the future?

This wasn’t just a talk — it was an open space for honest conversation. Whether attendees were considering a PhD, already in the middle of one, or simply curious about the intersections of photography and academia, we were glad to welcome everyone into the discussion.”
